Description
The UTPP is a state-of-the-art portable, lightweight and simple to use device for the non-destructive testing of joints in polyethylene pipes in water and gas distribution networks. It is a measuring device from Tessonics. It allows for the inspection of butt-welded and electrofusion joints on pipes with diameters from 50 to 320mm.
The device is based on modern electronics and has built in artificial intelligence algorithms (neural networks) which allow the operator to confidently find and classify defects. Pre-defined inspection plans significantly increase operator efficiency and minimise the potential for errors.
Applications:
Butt-welds and electrofusion joints in polyethylene pipes of medium and high density (PE80, PE100, PE2708).

UTPP is a non-destructive ultrasonic system for inspecting welds in polyethylene (PE/HDPE) pipes used in gas, water and industrial pipelines. It evaluates butt-fusion and electrofusion joints, where joint integrity is critical and destructive sampling is wasteful and slow.
Ultrasonic inspection detects lack of fusion, cold-fusion joints, voids, inclusions, contamination and misalignment, providing documented evidence of weld quality without cutting the pipe. Replacing destructive testing with UTPP lowers scrap, speeds up qualification and supports higher inspection coverage on the production line and in the field.
