The Corona 5 is a portable pulsed holiday detector for non-destructive testing of thin protective dielectric coatings. It detects pinholes, pores, cracks, leaks and other coating discontinuities using an adjustable test voltage and is suitable for coatings from 50 µm to 1 mm thick.
Description
The Corona 5 is a compact portable holiday detector designed for non-destructive testing of thin dielectric coatings on electrically conductive substrates. It detects pinholes, pores, cracks, leaks and other discontinuities that can compromise the protective properties of a coating.
With an adjustable test voltage of 0.7–5 kV, the device is intended for coatings from 50 µm to 1 mm thick. A range of interchangeable electrodes makes it suitable for inspection of pipelines, tanks, vessels, metal structures and other coated components, including flat, cylindrical and difficult-to-access surfaces.
The Corona 5 is particularly suitable for quality control of thin anticorrosion and protective coatings during manufacturing, application and maintenance.
Features
– High accuracy of maintaining the test voltage on the electrode (not more than 5%);
– Powerful test voltage generator (up to 50 W);
– False defect detection system;
– Operating temperature range: from minus 40 °C to plus 50 °C;
– The device has a digital interface containing:
1. test voltage calculator, which allows to calculate the test voltage based on the known thickness of the tested coating;
2. user calibration mode, which allows to correct the device calibration by the user during the entire device lifetime if the appropriate measuring equipment is available;
3. single-electrode testing mode, allowing to detect through coating defects without a connected earthing wire;
4. defect counter;
– The weight of the control unit does not exceed 0.65 kg;
– Autonomous operation time (up to 20 h at a test voltage of 5 kV using a fan electrode).
